Solo Sessions

The solo session is a good introductory session for you if you want to meet Max and get a feel for the training before investing in a package. It is also ideal if you have previously finished a package and need a refresher, or you wish to build on the training foundation you currently have. Solo sessions meet where Max can establish your current level and needs, assess your dog’s trainability, and implement exercises for you to work with.

*This session is not suitable for reactivity, aggression, or anxiety related behaviours. Please refer to the behaviour training section for this.

This service covers foundation dog training skillsets including:

Handling Skills & Lead Work: The process of walking your dog may be one of the greatest
challenges you face. The emphasis on handling and lead work will be looking at proper use of the
right equipment for you, learning how to use it effectively, and developing your communication skills to improve the experience of walking your dog.

Recall Training: The aim is to look at your current level of recall, identify where the problems are, and outline a foundation to build upon to reach a better level of focus with your dog. Recall training is a process that is worked with throughout your dog’s first 2-3 years of life.

Obedience Training: Learn and gain insight into the basics of obedience training by incorporating
handling skills and recall work with the use of clear communication using relevant markers and rewards. Then learn to develop the process with increasing distractions as you build a solid foundation. This session also covers handling of mild behaviour issues such as jumping up, ignoring commands, and equipment and lead handling issues.

About Max Muir

I created Action 4 Dogs with the sole purpose of teaching pet and working dog owners to build confidence and skills in the human-dog relationship and in creating a working partnership with their dog.  I offer a wide range of training experiences covering good solid obedience, recall training (my specialty), effective handling skills, enrichment activities, and an approach to improving problematic behaviour in training as well as more serious behaviour issues. Training levels cater for beginner and novice dog owners to more experienced handling and training.

Max is well known as a people coach. He works with you to understand your thoughts and feelings by identifying your strengths and weaknesses, building your self-confidence by uncovering your potential, and through his training process developing your skillset.
