For a dog to be motivated by treats they have to be of high value, a dried up old biscuit is simply not worth the effort for many dogs. Dogs require wages for their work so treats should be of high quality, they should also be small so they can be easily and quickly eaten. If treats are chewy and crunchy you will find that the dog will dip his head when eating them and will then lose his focus on you.
The best motivators are soft cooked meats, liver, chicken, cheese or cut up hotdogs. For a mouth watering treat that is sure to get results from most dogs, please try the recipe below. Liver Cake Recipe 1 lb. Self-raising flour 1 lb. Liver 2 Eggs 2 teaspoons of Garlic Powder 1 cup of milk Water to mix Put the liver, eggs and garlic through a blender until smooth. Gradually add the flour and the milk, and then top up with water until you have a sponge-like consistency. Put the mixture into a flat baking tray and place in pre-heated oven at 200 degrees. Cook until no liquid remains when tested with a needle or fork (roughly 30 -45min) depending on depth of tray.
